Redmine provides multiple projects, configurable issue tracking, role-based access, calendars, Gantt charts, time entries and project wikis. Repository integration can relate development changes to project work. Community volunteers maintain the upstream project, which publishes source downloads under GPL v2.
The software license is free; hosting, installation, upgrades, backups and operational support remain the operator’s responsibility. Commercial hosting products and paid plugins have their own terms. The native feature list does not establish a bundled Scrum or Kanban extension, so those capabilities should be assessed for the specific plugin separately. Its REST API must be enabled by an administrator and offers JSON/XML access with maturity varying by resource.
